Description
These juicy bison burgers are the new healthier version of the traditional classic beef hamburger. Super delicious and packed with so much flavor, ground bison is the healthier alternative to ground beef that everyone should know about.
Ingredients

- 1 pound 90% lean ground bison, divided
- kosher salt
- freshly ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 4 slices sharp cheddar cheese
For Assembly
- 4 gluten free hamburger buns, toasted
- optional condiments: mayonnaise, mustard, ketchup
- optional toppings: sliced red onion, sliced tomato, sliced avocado, butter lettuce
Instructions
Step 1
Divide ground bison into 4 equal portions and shape into 1/2 inch thick patties. Season generously with salt and pepper.
Step 2
Place a large skillet over medium heat. Add butter and olive oil. Once butter is melted, add the patties and cook 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until the desired temperature is reached.
Step 3
During the last few minutes of cooking, add a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty; cover and cook for about 2 minutes while the cheese melts.
Step 4
While the pasties rest, lightly toast the buns in the oven or toaster. Once toasted, add your desired condiments and toppings; mayonnaise, mustard, ketchup, sliced red onion, sliced tomato, sliced avocado, and butterhead lettuce. Serve immediately.
